Crossfit Level 2
I've come a long way since then, from team training for the RIT Sailing Team to training for 5k races to finally finding CrossFit thanks to a neighbor. A group of us rotated between our garages, training our own CrossFit programming for a few years, and I still love the chance to work out in my garage. When coming into a box became the routine, I started to miss the coaching side of things. From there, I'm always trying to improve not just as an athlete, but also as a coach for everyone in the great community we've all built at Perform ATX.
I've already hit on my turning point: preparing for that backpacking trip. At that point I was a very un-trained 16 year old, and I'd never put much thought into what I could do physically. I realized I needed to be better so I could really enjoy the trip. I made a plan, and I worked. Standing at the top of a mountain on the last day, looking out at a rising sun over the plains to the east, I remember thinking how grateful I was to get to that particular spot at that particular time. That experience proved to me that not only could I improve myself, but I could take advantage of those expanded capabilities to have some really awesome experiences.
Motivation & Passion
I love the process of learning. Of finding a need, of looking for answers, of trying solutions, of finding what works for that particular need. I love learning just a little bit more every day, of what works for that person at that time.
